This grants program provides funding for projects that help isolated people from CALD backgrounds connect with existing or new support networks and activities.
Activities could include:
•assisting older Victorians to use public transport so they can participate independently in the community
•creating a choir to help older migrants to learn English
•technology and English classes to support seniors being more tech savvy or communicating with relative oversees
•establishing community gardens to utilise skills and create socialising opportunities.
Since 2011, the Participation for CALD Seniors Grants Program has funded more than 200 community projects helping over 3,000 culturally-diverse seniors to get involved in the community.
